Here I was combining many things. My love of the East Sussex landscape, the idea of things in paintings being inside or outside the frame, and the memory of art history lectures. In this case Daumier’s painting ‘Don Quixote’ which has Sancho Panza, Don Quixote’s servant, sitting on his donkey and drinking wine from a flask, while Don Quixote is charging at something off in the distance.
