Description
Professor David Newbery is an eminent economist at the University of Cambridge. I wanted to show a thoughtful man contemplating ideas. I’ve placed him seated by the window overlooking the small garden, that he has lovingly cultivated and, in particular I have included the fountain of which he is very proud. Painting him delicately holding the journal while he thinks about something he has read was an interesting exercise. I think I’ve succeeded in creating the illusion of the whole arm and hand while only painting four fingers.
