This is a monoprint. That means that it was printed but there is no other which look exactly the same. There are numerous ways of making a monoprint. The black was painted on a sheet of glass and then after placing a sheet of paper of the painted side of the glass it was run through a lithographic press under fairly light pressure. The paper picks up the black ink but leaves a residue on the glass. I then added colour to the glass and ran the same sheet of paper through the press again. This can be done numerous times until a satisfactory image is obtained. The glass still retains some of the image so a second sheet of paper can be worked on in the same way. It will never be the same as the first even though the print keeps a lot of the basic composition.
