Description

This is one of my rare ventures into watercolour. It’s not a medium I enjoy particularly. The problem is that I like to make changes because it’s unusual for me to get things the way I want them to look the first time. With oil paint I can make those changes but with water colour I feel committed to whatever I put on the paper initially.
This painting was made in my Cambridge studio. A sculptor friend and I hired this model to sit for us for one afternoon. Some time later my friend married the young lady. Was it anything to do with this afternoon drawing and painting session, I will never know.

The afternoon was quite productive for me because I made two pieces that I thought were worth keeping. This one and ‘Nude Seated on a Sofa’ which is also in this website. Click on the link and it will take you there.
