Description
This is one of the first paintings I completed after moving from Cambridge to Wimbledon Village and my new studio nearby. It’s called ‘Final Reductions’ because that was the sign on the window of the shop outside where this lady is sitting. I didn’t include the sign because I believe that text in a painting can sometimes be a distraction for the viewer, and also because I don’t enjoy lettering. The shop is still there but sadly the restaurant with its pavement seating is not. If you want to explore the area, the corner to look for is Southside Common and Wimbledon High Street.
